hey my friends, now a question for you.....
QUESTION FOR YOU: what is the most surprising source of inspiration you've found.
just the other day i saw a yoga magazine showing an 80 year old woman doing back dome solid!
THIS is not an easy pose, it requires alot of strength AND mobility...strength in extension (which all need and few have) and mobility in the hips and shoulders (which all need and even fewer have).
SO, what is a surprising source for you?
peace my friends.....help someone to gain backdome and i promise you can change their life!:)

Road Warrior video, visit MBG Madison, good train, good eats!

video
Here's a simple warm up drill that is great for you when you travel to help pick you up and liven up your back!
Yesterday (monday) was a busy day and a good one too! Did a 4 hour DVD shoot, then had a great himalayan lunch with my mom, then had meetings all afternoon til stef and i worked out...good one! Then met my folks for dinner, then drove back to chicago last night! Whew:)
ABOVE VIDEO: is the first of many of my Road Warrior videos Jessica and I filmed while driving across the country awhile back....each hour of the drives we'd stop and do a set of something and it felt great! We got so amped up each time after doing it that the next hour of driving was easy and enjoyable! Then over that next hour we'd think of some other exercise to do...basically keeping it alternating all day long (over 8 hours of driving we got about 7 sets in:).  So each day over the next week or so i'll post one of our videos....so after this warm up at a gas station...you'll see more:)
MBG 1 restoration - doing Eischens Yoga poses here and there over the day:) Teaching Eischens Yoga class tonight which always feels great!
MBG 2 training - stef and i had a great training session back at Monkey Bar Gym Madison:
  1. 12" paralletes Handstand Push ups assisted with BXT x 8 sets of 3 (alternated with)
  2. 16k chin ups to bottom of chest x 8 sets of 3
focused on strong reps on all, then we went to alternating;
  1. planche push ups x 6
  2. L seat chins to bottom of chest x 6
did these two for about 5 sets each
Good strong workout...simple:) 3.7*
MBG 3 eating -
  1. spiralina smoothie
  2. bananas (2), vegan bar
  3. brown rice, spinach, black eyed peas, potatoes with some dahl soup
  4. potato, veggies, tofu, brown rice
  5. kale
Good day:)
peace my friends,

How R MBG Chicagoans crushing the challenge!! Vegan Soul Food!

Chicago's original vegan restaurant!! This place is AWESOME!!!
WHAT A DAY!!! Today was one of those days when you know that what you're doing is on the money...well today felt like that!!:) Today i slept great! Ate great! and the MBG Chicago crushed it, and when i say crushed it i mean EVERYBODY crushed it!!:) Then to top it off Jeremy (MBG Chicago trainer) and i went to have a business meeting and decided to go check out place above...as this place makes packaged meals which sell at whole foods and i've been killing them:) haha They make great greens, bean curds and lots more and they're located right on our south side...so we decided heck lets go here. Well as we're driving there i'm telling jeremy about how i use to stay on the south side alot when i was breakdancing with my brother gregs family...anyways the next thing i know is that this neighborhood is starting to look really familiar...then i see some guy selling fruit on the corner and it hits me, i bet this guy is selling for the restaurant that i went to about 20 some years ago...the place was awesome, the owner was this super cool older dude who looked amazing and dressed big time GQ:) well anyways:) when i see this stand i'm thinking man is this that same place i went to so long ago...and as we drove up...NO WAY!!! it was that same place...i was stoked!! So we went in, had a blast looking at all the great meals, the juice bar was great looking and the desserts!!!! DIZZZANNNNG!!! hahaha so i had to get some for later:) haha We had a great lunch i'll write out later, then i got to meet the owner and he looked the exact same!!! and had just a great energy:) So we talked about getting them involved with us and our grand opening April 23rd (if you know folks near us tell em, if you can make it, make it cause it gonna be a blast!!:)
Then after that it was back to the Monkey Bar Gym Chicago for some more meeting and then our Eischens Yoga class at 5-6pm and then our challengers mid way test day which went awesome. Not only did everyone have great positive changes in bodyfat loss and muscle gain...but they all dramatically improved across the board on strength, power and conditioning and for sure their power wheel crawls!
How did the Monkey Bar Gym Challengers do so well? They are following our plan to the T and the proof as i always say is in the pudding...and they are proving the effects of joining skill training with Eischens Yoga with Plant Based nutrition...CRAZY POWERFUL RESULTS!!!
So far after 30 days i've got to say the average fat loss is about 14 pounds and muscle gain is about 3 which is looking great!!! The improvements on physical tests was great, average improvements were 40% or higher on all 6 tests culminating with the power wheel crawls where a new mbg chicago record was set by sarah who improved from 40 yards to 99 yards!!! AMAZING!!!
What makes me SOOO very happy about these test results are that the students are LOVING IT!! After Sarah crushed her PW test she told me it was one of the most amazing feeling of her life, everyone in the MBG was cheering for her and pushing her to her very most! She said that is why i love this place, EVERYONE WANTS EVERYONE TO DO GREAT she said!! PRICELESS:)!!!
MBG 1 Restoration - Taught and did 1 hour of Eischens Yoga in class...always love this:)
MBG 2 Training - my training this week is "Chillin' like a Gorilla":) and i'm doing it!! And notice that i'm feeling better each day this week:) After mondays barbarians test i felt a bit tired and realized i hadnt taken a break in awhile so decided it's time and it feels good:) So my big workout today was doing some business calls tonight and walking around the south loop for about an hour....felt good:)
MBG 3 Plant Based eating -
  1. Maca cafe'
  2. soy yogurt, almonds, dates, raw protein
  3. chorella tablets
  4. collard greens, mashed potatoes, vegan steaks:), corn and brown lentils...great lunch!!!!
  5. big greens salad, onions, tomato and then some home made vegan pizza (tons of veggies on it:)
  6. spice tea
Very Happy with how we're doing here in Chicago, FEELING GOOD, GROWING and connecting with lots of very very cool people down here:)  Thank you all for your support near and far:) We're doing it my friends!!
peace:)

what a day!! 1 wicked test workout:) 4 Classes, 3 meetings and lots of work:) haha

Getting ready for my Silverback Test!!:) haha
Man today was a great busy day! Meetings this morning, classes, privates, workout, more meetings and more classes!! Whew! Over the weekend i was in San Fran and ran into a cool young trainer named Charlie who is a solid trainer who lives in SF.  Actually got something cool from his blog that i wanted to share with you all as well.
When in SF it was really really awesome to see my dad in action at the show..he's been doing these fitness shows since 1973 and he's basically a legend at the shows:) he was having a blast, walking all over the place and working out the whole time...it was great! He loves doing the shows and feeling the love folks have for him....and he's still a bad bad man!! Can easily rattle off 10 chin ups no problem!
QUESTION OF THE DAY: What inspires YOU to follow something or someone?
Is it a YouTube of something that you want...like being yoked?  (if you dont know what yoked is, being Yoked is a 1990's term for someone who is in crazy great shape....dang:) haha
Is it the facts of some studies done?
Or is it a testimonial done?
A Look? A Feat? A Fact? A Quote? which is it and why?
MBG 1 restoration - did some Eischens Yoga in class today as usual:)
MBG 2 training adventure - here is where i will share with you something someone shared with me that i thought is sort of fun and challenging. My friend Charlie on his blog somehow found out what the entrance test to get into the Barbarians club to train with them and it's sort of cool:) So i did it today, but one thing it is for sure missing is the legs stuff...so i am adding some i think would be a good challenge for you all out there...these are our MBG Silverback challenges for all our MBG trainers and power level students.
First the "Barbarians Test" do the following as fast as possible under 6:00
  • 5 Muscle ups
  • 45 Dips
  • 25 Pull ups
  • 55 Push ups
  • 5 Muscle ups
It was a good challenge and i did it in 5:58...the muscle ups at the end almost ruined me:) haha as i was done with the first 4 exercises in 4:20 then missed on 7 of 12 muscle ups in the last 1:38 haha...but, i got it!!!
Now for the second part, you can try this one on another day and see how you do.
This is the MBG Silverback Challenge part II
  • 100 Jump Rope doubles in a row without missing
  • Vertical Jump - 30" plus over reach for men, 24" plus for women
  • Broad Jump - 30" plus over height for men, 24" plus for women
  • 100 yard Power Wheel crawl without stopping
These are really a great test of conditioning, power and core strength...if you think i should add something give me a holler on it....right now this and the above give great advantage to the smaller guys...so a part of me wants to do something like 40k's deadlift for 40 reps (28k's for women) in a row....that might even the field a bit:) haha
MBG 3 plant based eating! Great strong meals today...excellent and super strong!!
  • Maca cafe'
  • soy yogurt, almonds, banana, dates, raw protein
  • apple juice, raw protein (after workout)
  • kale, spinach, bean curd, brown rice, vegetables
  • banana, chorella green drink
  • kale, garlic, quinoa, lentils
  • spice tea
Good day, feeling pretty good after the trip and everyone at the mbg was great today! Had great meetings and everyone is pumped and excited about what we're doing!!:)
peace my friends!

In San Fran, Yesterdays Box Muscle up workout, Super Strong Greens!

video
This is crazy cool what jessie is doing assisted with the BXT!! She looks like slow motion!!
Good day of MBG 3 my friends, short and to the point!! haha
Want to bring something up i've talked a bit about before....getting tired and keeping on!!:)
How You Feeling? Lets be honest, if we told people the truth they'd probably walk away:) haha
Tired? Then Why? Think about it....There is something to be said for giving of energy all day long...for many this is mental energy (think of the book celestine phrophecies). some folks stress and take energy from you as their means for living...some folks stress over work, over family, over the way they look, heck anything people can stress over.....all can be mental.
Then there is the physical energy from working out hard, lack of sleep, teaching alot of others how to train in privates or in classes, doing dvd shoots or picture shoots, playing sports....even city stress of smog, traffic and just crazy energy can be added here as well.
All of these can exhaust or enhance us....do become prey to all of these energy drains or stresses? Or do we find ways to re-energize ourselves? I know in my quest to help people eat, train and restore in a healthier way i sometimes run myself into the ground:) haha This is the path i've chosen, and now i'm walking it and learning:) How do i deal with For myself i just have to think back to times in my life where i was almost crushed but came out of it stronger and a better man...times that almost broke me...but didnt. What did i do? I walked and read or listened to positive messages from books and people i look up to and admired...i did it for hours somedays and you know what...it worked, i felt better and returned my health.
WHAT DO YOU DO THAT IS SIMPLE AND HELPS YOU RE-GAIN BALANCE IN YOUR LIFE?
MBG 1 - restoration - did my Eischens Yoga and shoulder routine with the chest expander...thought i forgot about that huh:) haha
MBG 2 training - super simple today, played with some "Beat Reps" then did 50 box muscle ups and that was perfect, simple and strong!
MBG 3 eating PB -

peace my friends!

Crazy Training day 1.5 hrs of beat reps:) haha! Strong Greens and EY no doubt!!!

video
Finally got the big swing up to a handstand hold!!! hahaha
Dang today was another busy day! Good one though...made crazier by 1.5 hours of beat reps training!
Man it was so fun...the classes were crushing it and loving it big time!! took a ton of videos of it today and i'll get that to you all asap!!
MBG 1 restoration - today was very cool training and what is always cool is doing the Eischens Yoga partner feedback....and to show you how we do it check out the following pics to show the progressions and way to do each section....doing the EY feedback is amazing at stabilizing the shoulders...doing that allows for greater ROM which allows for greater ease to do....back dome and other poses and exercises...like handstands.  See where back dome it....here Bart (new MBG Chicago student) is having a hard time pressing into the floor...after feedback his hands are flat and pressing into the floor and head is now ready to press off of the floor!!! This happens within minutes for someone who has never done back dome before!! That is powerful!!! Pic A (1st back dome attempt), Pic B is partner feedback that only EY teaches, Pic C is the next back dome attempt (way more successful)

MBG 2 training - Beat reps workout....after working today alot i was tired a bit so did not want to do much for a workout...so said fu^% it:) i'm doing a beat workout!!! haha
so 90 minutes later i was toast!!!! we did some sick sick stuff!!!! i'd do a set of pulls on the bars...a good one was a muscle up to a around the world for repeats amap times...that was sick!:) then jess would go then jeremy (new mbg trainer who's very very cool!!:) then we'd all do pushing and keep alternating this all til toast!!:) OFF THE HOOK!!!! man i wish i could show you all right here!! promise soon!!
MBG 3 PB eating -
  1. green drink
  2. soaked oats, raw meal, dates, banana, pumpkin seeds
  3. green drink - kamut
  4. spinach, mango, raw meal, dates, almonds
  5. spinach, chopped soaked kale, bean curds then a vegan wrap
good day my friends,
TIP FOR THE DAY! Do the Eischens Yoga daily (if you dont have the dvd get it and follow it) then you can learn what we're doing above and change your life like crazy!
peace my friends!!!

  • felt like having some fun so switched gears and did beat reps after that for awhile!!
  • BXT push ups....on fingers to elbows, to every way and angle i could think of to some old school afrika bambaata!! Also mixed in some box planche presses and dips to the beat...that was a bit tougher:) haha
  • Bar beat pulls...on straight bar, then Jungle Gym XT and Pull up revolution, then finished off with the last few sets on the cliffhanger crawls....all to the beat!!:) it was a blast!!
MBG 3 plant based nutrition - woke up feeling super dehydrated, so drank alot early this am.

Another Strong Week at MBG Chicago!! Plant Strong Meals! Powerful Eischens Yoga!!

My Power Plant Strong Breakfast!!
WOW what a week!! Taught alot of classes this week so did not get to train much til today. But i did
get to do EIschens Yoga daily when teaching classes and i loved that! Our MBG Chicago students are
diggin' the EY big time, we extend the beginner sequence to almost a full hour, taking breathing breaks as needed, keeping relaxed and then getting back to focusing on the actions alot! One thing we wanted to do here is show people here how powerful EY truly is and we're doing it every class! For example at the end of todays EY class we did a little partner feedback...first we had everyone see how much range they had on their back dome pose...were the hands flat, arms still bent, head still on the floor? We paid attention to all these points. Then we used Eischens Yoga partner feedback on supine bridge on the arms, then returned and did back dome again....AMAZING!! Everyone had great improvements on ROM and alignment, last night 3 people that could not even get their heads off the ground did so! And today was no different, they pressed up as if they had been doing it for years!!:) Man that is priceless:)
So give it a go and see the huge difference...if you dont know what i'm talking about:) get our EY dvd and then try out what i'm saying:) Then you'll understand!!:)
MBG 1 restoration - over an hour of Eischens Yoga today with about a 7 minute rest pose...man it was truly amazing!! The room was packed, the class was focused and we all were big time in tune and walked out floating on air!! Love teaching the EY class!!!:)
MBG 2 trainng - Felt tired from the long week and teaching most all the classes from tuesday on, so i did a very simple workout....30/30 for 30 minutes with 6 different skill exercises and all sets of slow 1s
  1. Around the worlds w/slow negative,
  2. HSPU off yoga blocks,
  3. Slow L seat chin up,
  4. slow press up,
  5. cliffhanger crawl,
  6. planche push ups slow and strict
  • rested 5 minutes then did;
  1. Jungle Gym XT foot up lunge control jumps for 2 sets of 12s each leg
  2. Jungle Gym XT 1 legged curls for 2 sets of 12s each leg
for feeling the way i did this started easy and got just hard enough to be a really good workout!! 3.6*!!
MBG 3 plant based eating!!
  1. maca cafe'
  2. my super plant strong breakfast meal: soaked oats, soaked almonds, flax meal, goji powder, raw meal, banana, dates!! man this was strong and tasty!!:)
  3. green kamut drink
  4. kale salad with some baby spinach, tomato, onions...then had a vegan sandwich after!!!:)
  5. hot apple juice
  6. after workout apple juice with some raw meal stirred in....this was actually an awesome after workout meal and tasted incredible!! for sure try this out!!
  7. kale salad and a vegan wrap with hummus and some beans
MAN O MAN AWESOME ANSWERS ON MY QUESTION OF THE DAY!! everyone really made awesome points!! i really want to reach out and give you all a hug! Folks with so many people feeling this way the fitness world is changing no doubt....we're all changing the fitness world my friends to be about feeling good, enjoying movement and loving what we do:) THAT is awesome!!!
QUESTION FOR TODAY!! Answer the following question:
If you could have one super power what would it be...the answer says alot about you:) haha
The ability to fly?
The ability to read minds?
To be invisible?
be careful which one you choose:) cause each has an interesting twist!!:)
peace my friends!

Fix tight hips/bad back in minutes with my Tip of the Day, strong workout, great meals!

Me, my Mom and Dad...they just visited MBG Chicago today:)
Want a quick fix to some back pain? Here's my Tip of the Day!
Length: ‎1:21
coming out this week we'll be doing supine bridge with some feedback as only Eischens Yoga does you can dramatically bring balance to the hips, which will lessen the tightness and thus relieve back pain. It's so simple and yet so powerful...that is usually how things are that are powerful....they are simple:) And Eischens Yoga with partner feedback is a perfect example of just that!
Today was a good day:) Strong workouts, strong Eischens Yoga and super strong meals!!
MBG 1 restoration - Did Eischens Yoga in class
MBG 2 training - Did todays Top of 60 seconds workout!!.....for 20 minutes:)!!!
  • Handstand Push Ups x 6, 6, 5, 5, 4 = 26
  • Cliffhanger crawls x 2,2,2,2,2 = 10
  • did these two for 10 minutes, then without rest went right to:
  • Jungle Gym XT muscle ups x 8,8,8,8,8 = 40
  • Planche Dips x 10,10,10,10,10 = 50
*also trained BJJ this am for about an hour

This was NIIZZZZICEE!! hahaha
MBG 3 super strong eating!!
  1. Raw Meal, spring water
  2. banana, dates, pecans
  3. green kamut, spring water (32 oz)
  4. collards, bananas, dates, rice milk, raw meal, flax meal
  5. green kamut, spring water (32 oz)
  6. spinach, corn, sesame oil and then some sprouted pasta, mushrooms, veggies, tomato sauce
Man i felt good energy all day, felt strong, worked alot and taught a bunch of classes and still felt strong:) that's a good day:)
QUESTION FOR YOU ALL;) Why do you workout? Train? I want to honestly here what your reason is and why...is it purely for looks? Is it for pear pressure? Is it for what??
For me, i train for the love of it! It gives me a high and joy daily:) To move and express myself in a natural and challenging way just makes me feel great! I love the play of it, love the challenge of trying to constantly improve myself! Got to admit too i dont mind the way it makes me look as well:) haha:) that aint a bad thing...look good, feel good:) But it's not the only thing....what is it for you?
peace and love my friends:)
