Day 88 of 90: almost there my friends:) hahaha great training today!!

My Mom (Joy:) and my Dad (Bobby) amazing people!!
Okay i realize my 90 day challenge is up in just two days:) I'm cool with that fact that i'm not hitting them:) Going for them is the point, despite my travels and work crushing my training, i kept doing my best:) I'm still going for them and will get them as soon as i can....think i might get the Power Wheel + 40 vest for 100 yards soon:) the Dunk next and then the handstand....wow, that one is a big time challenge for sure:) we'll keep you posted on that:) hahaha
A few days i wrote about one of my Dads accomplishments...1 of Many:) haha
It was the 63 reps in 10 seconds jumping rope back in 1974 at the age of 43!! It is many
times we see in life that people do not appreciate how amazing their parents are...i had
my spell for sure, rebelled, but i'm so appreciative now to be able to see how amazing they
are, filled with love for life, health, their children and grandchildren:) But got to also say some more
achievements they both have done physically...they're impressive:)
My Dad: Multiple times NCAA boxing champion, Golden Gloves Champion, 6-0 record as a pro (had to retire due to bad break in his wrist, Jump Rope World Record of 63 reps in 10 seconds...these are some. Today he easily can do 10 "L" seat chin ups, tons of push ups and does 5 times to the top of his stairwell daily...that is 14 flights!!! Ha! Bad Ass!!
My Mom: at 80 is probably the only woman in the world who can do a wicked triple threat!!
She can do a chin up from hanging! She can kick up into a handstand!! And squat and hold a full squat butt to heels with feet all the way together and hold it!! Amazing! She has been training at my MBG ever since she had open heart surgery 4 years ago and then 2 anerisms the next summer...shes really amazing!
They both have been eating plant based since and both feel really strong and healthy and vibrant big time! I'm a lucky man:)
QUESTION FOR YOU: parents or not, someone helped you, someone made you the person you are today even if you did not appreciate them along time ago, you are here my friends....give thanks, they helped make you strong, gave you the gifts you have and also gave you some things to work more on:) haha.
MBG 1 restoration - quick Eischen Yoga sequence today, then quick hot/cold shower too:) haha
MBG 2 training - practiced 1 arm handstand holds with fingers against wall and 1 arm hands for 15 seconds each for about 4-5 sets of each....love these:)
Handstand negative to planche 1" off floor x 5 reps, then x 5 press ups off wall w/70lb bxt cable
1 arm chin up (held other wrist) x 5, then 5 1 arm JGXT (on 1 leg) chin ups
Did 4 sets of each for 40 total reps of each....man this felt awesome!!!
Then trained BJJ with some of my brazilian friends Danielo and Mosquito, young and wicked good!!
Trained straight for about 75 minutes....whew:)
MBG 3 eating plant based -
soaked oats, blueberries, cranberries, SOLife, walnuts
kale, carrots, beans, parsley, sunflower seeds, beets, amaranth, lentils
spinach, fresh squeezed beets, kale and apple, SOlife, walnuts
peanuts
peace out my friends:) appreciate the love, no matter how you got where you got, you're here:) appreciate it:)

Day 86 of 90: New PR on Power Wheel crawl VIDEO!!

New Record on the Power Wheel Crawl: with the 40lb vest (making me 252lbs) on i crawled 80 yards straight on cement bike path. Couple things of interest here...80 yards (73.15 meters for those down under:) straight is harder than the back & forth on the 15 yard carpeted floor in my Monkey Bar Gym:). Even though 16 days ago i did 75 yards with the 52lb vest inside and i did not get to do any power wheel training over the last 2 weeks:( I'm still very happy about this today:) I learned that i need to train this on straight aways:) going forward, then backwards, then forward etc definitely seems like you get a little break during the crawl....learned this at about the 50 yard marker:) man as you watch you'll see i begin to slow down alot at that point. When i think back to the beginning of this challenge i used a 40lb vest as i did today and i only did 50 yards on the forward and backwards method indoors....so i feel despite alot of traveling and doing it outdoors that improving 30 yards over this time is great!!! During my time training i seemed to improve about 5 yards a week....so, i'm still gonna do this:) haha figure i traveled for about 30 days over this 90 day challenge so give me til december okay:) and i'll get it....but we'll see about it being done on a straight away outdoors in cold ass wisconsin:) haha might do it indoors:)
MBG 1 restoration: Eischens Yoga beginner sequence before training, after training did hot/cold shower and loofa for 5 cycles (good stuff!)
MBG 2 training: 80 yard Power Wheel crawl + 40lb vest (New Personal Record:)
Did one of my favorites "J Rock"!!! did 2 sets of 20s of each
  • handstand push ups + 0 bands / 1 band (70lb bxt) / 2 bands (140lb bxt) x 5,5,10    3, 5, 12. Just so you know the BXT is a wicked way to assist HSPU's...got to think each additional cable assists me by about half of it's poundage (35lbs here)....looking at the first set, i did 5 reps, rested for about 30 seconds, could of maybe done a few more reps without any help...maybe 2-3, so reducing my weight from 210 to 175 help gives me another 5 reps, then using 2 bands makes me about 140lbs so i can then do 10 more reps....these are my guestimates....it seems about right:)
  • chin ups to sternum  pull to my sternum (the Jungle Gym XT's have helped alot my chin ups,  had challenge chinning to my sternum, but not anymore did first sets of 7 to my sternum which is great for me:) did 2 sets of 7, 5, 4, 4
  • rested 5 minutes
  • box inverted presses (1/2 ROM) > box muscle ups: 2 sets of 7 > 8, 5
  • JGXT 90 deg muscle ups (love this exercise!): 2 sets of 12, 8 (man this crushes the arms!!!) cause i made sure to touch my ribs twice on each rep, pull up with control til hands touch rib then quickly turn elbows up to dip ready position, then reverse under control touching ribs again. Love this!!!
MBG 3 plant based eating:
  1. fresh squeezed carrot and orange juice with Source of Life (green vit/min supplement)
  2. soaked oats, cacao, goji, bananas, walnuts
  3. soaked oats, SOLife, goji, bananas, walnuts (okay, yes i ate the same thing twice, it's good:) hahaha
  4. kale, carrots, beets, califlower, brocolli, bell peppers, corn
  5. fresh squeezed beet and apple juice with a scoop of pea protein

Good day and again it feels so good to be home and eat and train regularily...man it makes all the difference:)
peace,
jon

Day 85 of 90: MBG M.A.P. for 2011:) my dad is a bad ass!!!!:)

My Dad (Bobby Hinds, aka Badass!!!) and I:)

Today i was thinking about my dad (Bobby Hinds), he's really an amazing person.
He is 79 years old, in 1973 (at age 42) he invented the Lifeline Jump Rope and program and it quickly
became the #1 jump rope sold in the world, he was in the Guiness Book of World Records for doing 63 reps in 10 seconds with one of his plastic beaded jump ropes....63!!! What makes this record so impressive is besides his age at the time, the use of the beaded rope which is heavier than a speed rope by a ways and his size...about 6' tall (shorter is easier/faster)...all 3 make the speed of this accomplishment more impressive. I've attempted many times to break this record and could never do better than 56 in 10 seconds on 28 doubles. Finally i asked my dad how he did it cause i was going as fast as i could on the doubles...he simply said "I did triples, 21 in 10 seconds". Now that is wicked impressive!!! sometimes for fun while teaching our MBG Intensive course i have the students try to come close to his record:) it's pretty funny as no one ever comes very close to 50 let alone 63:) Then consecutive triples is hard but doing them while jumping only about 1-2" off the ground is extremely challenging.
MY QUESTION FOR YOU!! Think you're a bad ass? Then do a few Jump Rope tests for me; first amap in 10 seconds, then post it on my FB page and our MBG FB page...i wanna hear it:) Second; 32 doubles as fast as possible (64 total reps). Third; 21 triples as fast as possible:) hahaha this one will humble you IF YOU CAN DO THEM:) Post your results and see if you are a bad ass like my dad:) I'll tell you all more of his feats soon, he's got a ton of amazing stories:)
MBG 3 plant based eating:
fresh beet, carrot, apple juice
spinach, banana, SOlife, goji berries, almonds
bananas, orange, healthy heart bars (vegan - good stuff:)
kale, kamut, carrots, corn, beans, pumpkin seeds, beets
sesame bar
soaked oats, almond milk, SOlife, almonds, sesame seeds
Man got to do these days:) haha
peace my friends:)
jon
was all meetings from the moment i got up til almost 4pm!! crazy busy day

Day 84 of 90: 1 arm HS's, gorilla hangs and WHAT? the knucklehead club??

Tonight Dinner:) veggies and lentils:)
I'm back!!! haha man it's good to be back home, love NYC and doing all the seminars though:) When i get back home i get to rest!! eat great and train at my Monkey Bar Gym!!!:)
Crazy how much travel and teaching we actually do each day while on these trips....we figured it was about 6-8 hours a day for the single seminar days and the last day with 2 seminars was about 12 hours of travel and teaching...it can zap you if you dont sleep and eat right:) but we're cool:)
One sort of cool thing we realized while teaching the seminars was the basics all people want to know. Like how to heal back pain, how to progress to do a handstand and how to make a simple and strong plant based meal...these were the common threads during our trip and we really enjoyed the great discussions we had on each and then teaching all how to do each point.....just alot of fun:) Love it:)
An additional point was the knucklehead club:) haha yes that is correct, we joked about it at one seminar and everybody thought it was really funny. So the more we talked the more we laughed:) "The Knucklehead Club" is anyone who does something not so smart despite proper judgement telling them not to do it...you can become a member if you've trained super hard when you know your exhausted or injured and it makes you feel way worse OR when you eat way way too much and feel horrible afterwards OR when you have an injury and instead of resting it and doing some smart and constructive rehab AKA Eischens Yoga you go and train and re-injure yourself:)
Lots of ways to become a member and they all dont have to relate to fitness, heck i know most of us our members purely from our relationships:) haha dang if we open it up to that i think 100% of us are Knuckleheads:) haha...maybe lets just keep it to fitness afterall:) haha
So, MY QUESTION FOR YOU TODAY....ARE YOU A MEMBER?
AND IF SO WHAT IS YOUR MOST RECENT REASON FOR BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE Knucklehead Club? :) i want to hear your story!!!
I have to say i've been a member for mmmmm about 40 years:) hahaha Here is my story of one of my first knucklehead moments....i trained everyday, same thing and overtrained myself so bad that i actually took naps between sets:) haha gosh what i shock i did not get bigger and stronger:) haha this was when i was about 18 years old:)
MBG 1 restoration - Eischens Yoga beginner sequence and about 10 sets of resisted back domes too!! Then did 5 cycles of hot/cold showers along with loofa skin massage as well...that was cool and helped my recovery alot:)
MBG 2 training - great to train again at home...man!!!!:)
  1. 1 arm handstand holds x 10 seconds, plus 1arm kb lift with up hand x 0, 8k, 12, 16k, 20k, 20k, 20k, 0
  2. 1 arm hang plus other arm holds kb x 15 seconds x 0, 12k, 16k, 20k, 24k, 28k, 32k, 36k
  3. Back dome x 15 seconds plus 2 kbs across hips x 0, 8k's, 12k's, 16k's, 20k's, 24k's, 28k's, 32k's
man these 3 were awesome!!! i slowly progressed them alternating from 1 to 2 to 3 til done...great!!
Then did:
  1. Jungle Gym XT 90 degree muscle ups (25s) x 15, 10 / 12, 10, 3 / 10, 10, 5
  2. Power Wheel + 30lbs alligator push ups x 3 sets of (12 push ups over 6 yards, then 6 yd crawl back)
MBG 3 plant based eating -
  1. fresh squeezed orange and carrot juice with SOlife too:)
  2. Kale, brown rice, beans, carrots, beets, corn
  3. fresh squeezed beets, kale juice with SOLife
  4. spinach, brocolli, onions, bell peppers, corn, lentils and veg patties
  5. apple
Felt a bit tired early today but ate great and energy revived and had a strong & fun workout!
peace out my friends!!!:)

Day 79 of 90: in NYC seminars, veg restaurants

hey everybody, doing the 3rd of 7 seminars today down in Avon by the Sea in NJ and so far the seminars have gone really great! The students are great and we've had a great time. Then the rest of the time we've been walking all over manhatten checking out the city which is great!
Looks like i have 11 days left in my 3 challenge adventure as well and it is sinking in that hitting the 3 will be pretty challenging:) 11 days away from going for it again!! Gonna do my best and look back at this whole adventure and learn....travel has accounted for over 33% of my 90 days i'm guessing:) so next time plan it when i'm in one place that can do all 3 events for 90 days:) Makes a huge difference:)

MBG restoration - Daily i've been doing our Eischens Yoga beginner sequence and man does that help a ton. Also have mixed in some 50 minute foot massage yesterday which was awesome:) and the day before 2.5 hours of Turkish Bath House on 10th and 2nd ave. man that was awesome we'd sit in a super old Russian Hot room...man this place is super old school...1892 is when it was built!!! After that a cold plunge for a minute...repeated this about 7 times and felt great afterwards. If you have access to a Russian or Turkish bath take advantage of it!!
MBG training - Walked about 10 mile yesterday, then did 5 simple sets of 20 reps of fist pushups or planche dips alternated with JGXT assisted chin ups to sternum for 100 reps of each and it was amazing...felt great!!!
MBG eating - man here we've been having a good time!! NYC has tons of great vegan restaurants that we've eaten at daily; Bonobo's, Jivamaktea Yoga centers cafe, viva la pizza (yes vegan pizza that is off the hook!!), quintessence, the meatball shop (my buddy mikey's place that serves both veg and meat stuff and it's got awesome dishes got to check it out!!!), The Juice Press which has amazing meals, smoothies and lots more it's down on 1st st and 1st ave.
All are amazing places to eat at and all give tons of options for everyone!!
We also stopped at babycakes:) haha, this is a vegan bakery that is or should be illegal:) haha it's off the charts good and you got to check it out once:) haha if you can:)
hope you all are good and that you are helping yourself and others to be at another level:)
peace my friends,
jon

video
1 arm, 1 leg push up....very hard, toes point down too makes it way harder:) try it:) Check out the Doo too:) haha Surfs up!!
Traveling is crazy got into new jersey at 1:30 am then got to the hotel slept a bit and left at 8:30 to get to a meeting in manhatten this am...i think we actually got the slowest taxi driver in the world, we was so worried about bumping his 4x4 that we stopped and then slowly rolled over every puddle over the 20 miles....took us 2 hours!!!!! Then we had a great 2.5 hour meeting with my buddy stephen who is a expert at helping businesses and boy did he help us alot. it is so important to have an expert guide you, to get people around you who are better than you are at each aspect of your work and that is what is happening...we're getting a really solid team and we're constantly working to improve so we can help more and more people and in doing so help the planet more:)
Still had good food today...fruit juice (fresh juiced) before meeting, then went to Bonobo's (vegan restaurant) on 23rd which serves up awesome food and i got kale salad with beets, seaweed, brocolli and then a walnut thing:) it was great!!

Day 72 of 90: me in 1983 TV ad:) HSWs like crazy! JGXT hspu and more!

Lifeline Gym TV ad from 1983 when i was 19, 5'8" and 135lbs:) hahaha
Good day today:) As we were working this morning we talked alot about the NYC/Philly seminars coming up, we talked about each one, the outlines, the main point of it all....to help people, to help the planet. THAT is what it is all about....that is what my mission has been since day 1, to make this world a better place. Since i was a little boy i've always loved running, jumping, crawling, climbing like animals as well as just plain old loving animals themselves and nature. It's never changed! Reading an article today i saw someone made a great point that really supported what we do...i love animals, so i dont kill them and eat them. Now some people, actually most who do eat animals say things like well it's normal it's in our DNA, bogus, we're primates, it's not in our DNA!! Or some actually say well they're gonna die anyways, so is everything but you dont eat your family, friends, cats or dogs do you?
Why do it if you can replace it with natural plants that give you all the health you could ever desire?
Ego and following everyone else because they say you should.
Well i go back to my first point...do you want to help people and planet OR are you just about youself?
Eating animals is ego and following others who dont care about animals AND the planet!
Do you love animals? the Planet? Then quit thinking just about yourself and do something about it!!
I want to help people and planet...will you join me? We are just pebbles in the ocean...but...we are many!
MBG 1 restoration - Eischens Yoga
MBG 2 training -
  1. HSW 32, 37t, 32, then practiced head neutral, this felt great and helps walking better but it's tougher to turn at the 15 yard markers...so only did 15, 15, 22 (fell, but got up quickly:)
Then did JGXT handstand push ups with handles 8" off the floor and it worked awesome!!! Can do all exercises you can think of with the JGXT!!:) haha it's awesome, now who invented that:) haha cause he's a bad bad man!!!:) heck yeah boy:) haha. So this was hard to get 1 rep so then i hooked a power jumper up to the bar the JGXT was hanging off of and assisted HSPU's with 60lb Power Jumper and this worked perfect...just kept doing this with sets of muscle ups on the bar
  1. JGXT + 60lb PJ assisted: 3,3,3,3,4,4,5*= 25
  2. Bar Muscle Ups: 6,6,6,6,6,6,6 = 42
then finished with Power Wheel rollouts to chest: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10 = 70
really had a great time working out today....so proud of my JGXT...it's awesome:)
MBG 3 eating -
  1. grapes, berries, mango, dates, bananas, SOlife, almonds
  2. kale, kamut, brown rice, garbanzos, corn, carrots, mushrooms, beets, sunflower seeds, walnuts, cranberries...man this is good:)
  3. green juice
  4. roasted almonds
  5. vegan pizza: corn crust, tomato sauce, eggplant, spinach, tomatoes, onions, brocolli, roasted corn
Good day:)

Day 71 of 90: Improvement again!

video
MBG CNT Jared T doing the Power Wheel 100 yard challenge...anyone else??:)
Today was a strong day eating, training, restoring...i was hungry for each....this is good:)
I have 19 days to achieve i hope 1 of the 3 goals i set out some 71 days ago.
Despite my obstacles, travels, workload i'm still feeling confident i will get one of the three if not 2.
The Power Wheel + 52lb vest (not my original 40lb vest:) i am confident i will get...it is a huge challenge still as i'm at 75 yards right now. Dunking, this one has been really hard as i'm doing my jump training 2 times a week still and re-tweaking my left knee a month ago really set me back alot...i'm still improving on my broad jumps a bit though and have not been able to jump off 1 foot since re-tweaking my knee but i feel it getting stronger each week from my daily eischens yoga and doing good bw strength work too. The one i am not feeling strong about is the 100 yard handstand walks, this has been my biggest challenge...was improving and in the middle of the 90 days i hit a different wall:) haha and did not train much for about 3 weeks there so am still at my 30 day max...of about 47 yards which i hope to beat tomorrow:) Over the 71 days so far i feel my eating and daily eischens yoga + hot/cold showers has helped me tremendously as this has been an challenging venture big time:) and i've needed to do all i can with those two in order to even perform equal or above the other goals:)
MBG 1 restoration -
Eischens Yoga beg seq + lots more back domes and inversions + hot/cold shower
MBG 2 training - did something a bit different here today...
instead of doing Power Jumper broad jumps i used the BXT off the wall and started 4'6" from the wall and jumped 8 times at each level: R8/R5/0.
  1. For the R8 jumps my best was 5'4", for R5 my best was 6'5", for 0 resistance improved to 5 jumps for 45'7" so far on my return to jumping this is my best broad jump!! 3 feet 7" farther than where i began 71 days ago (42' only) so i'm still very happy about that.
After broad jumps, went outside and did my playground leg workout:
  1. Pistol/Russian Lunge alternates: 4 sets of 5s (5 of each)
  2. GHD: 4 sets of 10 with bending at hips and hands behind head...man this kicked ass:) haha
MBG 3 eating -
  1. grapes, straw/blue berries, mangos, dates, coconut, banana, bee pollen, goji, cacao, SOLife, walnuts
  2. kale, kamut, carrots, corn, beets, garbanzo's, tabouli, walnuts, cranberries (awesome with cranberries)
  3. spinach/beet/carrot juice with some SOLife mixed in....OFF THE HOOK!!
  4. dahl soup, spinach, potato, black eyed peas, tomato, brown rice....awesome dinner!!
  5. honeycrisp apple
Feeling good, wish i could keep on this path til day 90 but going to nyc for 7 seminars in 8 days:) haha gonna do my best to stay on my training goals!! Anyone in the NYC area got a 52lb or heavier weight vest i can borrow? haha...i'm serious though:)
peace,
jon

Tough as hell though and still got 25 more yards to go in the next 20 days!!!!! That is why it's called a challenge huh:) haha

Day 68 of 90: HSW, J rock and i'm back home:) yeah

Chicago Warrior statue...STRONG!!
Man traveling and speaking or showing my inventions all day as i've done in chicago over the last few days just crushes my HSW, PW crawls and jump training:) after a few days of working out each day at the fitness event i just had to get outside and have some fun in the sun...so i did one of my favorite outdoor workouts....J Rock!
I've been a personal trainer / strength coach for 31 years, i've seen alot and tried alot of different things and it usually comes down to some simple rules. As a young trainer in LA i asked Reg Parks, one of the greatest strongmen and bodybuilders of all time for some advice....i asked him what is the best way to get stronger, he simply said, eat more and train harder/heavier. i've always liked his simplicity of training it for sure worked for him:) I bring this up because alot of people have said to me over these years "oh you'd be so much bigger if you ate meat, or if you lifted weights". Even today i hear the same thing!! Honestly it is crazy, when i was 25 years old i was in about the exact same shape i'm in now, when i was an NBA strength coach, when i was 32 same shape as i'm in now when i began brazilian jiu-jitsu and in both of these cases i ate alot of meat, actually a ton of meat and whey protein powders...easily 200g a day. and you know what same exact lean body mass as i am right now!! Same across the board high levels of fitness...but i had alot of injuries in the works, like my super tight hips and shoulders. Anyways last night in chicago i'm in the food section of barnes and nobles looking at all types of books and i see the paleo diet book, so i breeze thru it and he states without question you cannot eat a 100% plant based diet and get the same results....I LAUGHED!! it is crazy how people say you must kill animals in order to be strong...bull!! the facts are..i am so much more healthier today than before it's a joke, my kidneys hurt all the time (back pain), horrible sleep, joint pain...and of course killing alot of animals and helping global warming....NOTHING POSITIVE!
Question for you all....are you healthier today or the same as you were when you use to eat (and kill) alot of animals.
MBG 1 restoration - Eischens Yoga beg sequence, hot/cold shower
MBG 2 training - HSW, J rock workout, biked all day long!!
After the badger game we rode past an outdoor football field....so i had to check my HSWing:) well with no warm up and the chicago day long demonstrating got me here:( only went 45 yards so that was a dissapointment...but i got to understand what did i expect:) haha a record:) 45 is still very good, just hoping to get up near 55 or so....next time i'll rest a bit first:)
J ROCK workout - 3 sets of 20 total reps for each pushing and pulling groups
Parallel bars: Inverted press hold to L seat hold for reps, then swing dips (front side & back side = 1), then planche dips: 5, 10, 5 / 5, 10, 5 / 5, 10, 5 for 3 sets of 20
Parallel bar: Muscle ups to side to side chins, to assisted 1 arm chins (4 left, 4 right = 4 reps) to L seat chin ups to chest: 5, 5, 5s, 5 for 3 sets of 20
MBG 3 plant based eating -
soaked oats, goji, cacao, bee pollen, bananas, blueberries, sunwarrior chocalate prot powder (tried this out for the first time today and it was pretty good, might use this, we'll see as i really love SOLife:) ha
1 small bag of trail mix
kale, carrots, edemame, beets, pumpkin seeds, corn
water, sunwarrior vanilla, banana....okay this was not that good:) haha so had to add my SOlife haha!!
spinach, almonds salad, then some rice, black beans and greens sauce on top, this was awesome!!
popcorn, flax oil, sea salt
good day, a bit tired tonight:) but i'm good:)
peace,
jon

64 of 90: vertical & broad jumps, strong food, eischens in the am

video
QUESTIONS FOR YOU: What are your favorite MBG workouts of the day? Top 5!!
ALSO: What is your one piece of equipment you would want to train with if you had only 1?
My favorites: 15/15 clean & press and kips & HSPUs, 100 cl/sq/pr, 100 yd workout, 30/300/3000
My 1 piece of equipment: wow, tough question here:) jump rope, Jungle Gym XT or a power wheel:)
hey y'all:) today was a good strong day! beautiful here! Worked hard all day long, meetings from
9am to 4pm :) dang!! but we got alot of good work done and did a whole lot of MBG organization:)
after all the meetings trained a bit of bjj and then did a little jump workout and then met with my good buddy kevin wallace who drove up from oklahoma city to madison today with his buddy jeff. Good guys for sure!! Over dinner we were talking about there drive up here (about 13 hours) and some of the stuff jess and i have done on our many road trips, made me think of our road warrior videos we shot when traveling to colorado to do some speaking. It's about 14 hours each way so we thought we'd take a workout break each hour so we stayed awake and had something to look forward too....and man did it ever work great!! It was a blast, we had fun each hour and by the end of the day had gotten a great full body workout. In the video above jess is doing 20 cleans each side...nothing over the top, just nice hard one set is all we would do. Then i think i did 20 dead snatches each arm with the same 20kg, then back on the road. So maybe 30 plyo bench jumps next, then the next hour, maybe 40 hindu push ups each, etc etc for the whole day...i guarantee you'll love it my friends:)
MBG 1 restoration - began with Eischens Yoga as soon as i got out of bed, did the beg sequence and man did that help me start the day off well!! Later after training did the hot/cold x 5 shower cycle.
MBG 2 training - 1 hour of BJJ with my buddy Thales, good hard training!! Then did my jumps:
Vertical jumps to rim with R8 Power Jumper x 2/1/0...improve 1/2" from last week and hit 10'5.5"!!:)
Broad Jumps with R8 Power Jumper x 2/1/0...improved on my initial PJ2 jumps to 46' on 6 jumps, improved on PJ1 jumps to 42' on 5 jumps and then tied last weeks 45'5" jump with no resistance. sort of dissapointed i did not improve on the no resistance jumps but that is cool:) after a really busy day i still feel it was a good workout:) Knee did hurt on last set of vertical jumps so did more EY after and it was cool:)
MBG 3 plant based eating -
  1. grapes, mangos, bananas, goji, cacao, bee pollen, a bit of water, SOlife, pecans (man i love this meal:)
  2. figs, almonds
  3. kale, kamut, brocolli, onions, carrots, pumpkin seeds, lentils
  4. green juice - kale, parsley, apple
  5. collard greens, black beans, onions, bell peppers, sprouts, brocolli, peanuts
  6. honeycrisp apple and some raw cashew butter!!
Good day:) great to see my buddy kevin and his bud jeff, had dinner with them and talked alot of training (which is always fun:) haha.
peace out my friends,
jon

Day 63 of 90: HSW PW52 Rope STRONG PB Eischens of course:)

One of our HS player Markus with Wesley the inventor of todays wicked workout:) haha
Good day today! Did alot of work, had good workout bumping up some numbers again:) eating super strong foods and doing the restoration as usual:) I've been asked alot how do i keep any energy up running a business that is expanding, traveling alot and stretching myself alot....man it's crazy but i think i'm figuring it out a bit....ONE - got to listen to my gut alot, chill when i need too, this is a tough one as my mind constantly says do this, workout, sleep later, rest later, work on this, write this...blah blah:) haha. TWO - get some great, not good, but great people around you! As Tony Robbins told me power is proximity to power... meaning you got to surround yourself with high level people. We've made some changes, upgrades recently and it's really made a big difference in our overall organization, profits and my peace of mind. THREE - train smart, again this is probably like number 1 but chilin is sort of different than training. got to really really listen and not overdo it. with all the traveling and work we've been doing i could easily have dropped in my training or over done it...but i'm still progressing even  if it's a bit. So i'm doing good on that point i feel and it really comes down to listening to my gut...not my head. FOUR - eat great foods!!!! this is super important! positive if i was not eating so strong and clean that i'd be extremely tired all day long...now i'm just tired a bit each day:) haha FIVE - do the daily restoration with my Eischens Yoga....seems so simple to do but again without this i'd be aching alot more than if i did not do it. even if it's only a quick few poses it helps me alot. in addition to this is the hot/cold showers to help muscle recovery, although it's not as good as hot dry sauna or steam / cold bath cycles but it's again better than nothing. These are key and if they can help me with my crazy schedule it can help you guys for sure so hope this helps you all too:)
MBG 1 restoration - standing warrior poses, some prone mountains and back domes later in the night to re-balance after a long day and it felt great! also did 4 cycles of hot/cold shower too after my workouts.
MBG 2 training - did some stand up grappling training with MBG COO greg metzler who is a D2 wrestler and that was fun, we trained for about 40 minutes mostly stand up stuff which always helps a BJJ guy like myself:) haha
Handstand walks - now havent really been hitting this much over the last month, just wasnt feeling good most days when it was due but felt better today and went for it. Did 3 sets of 37 yards each set which ties my indoor record...man i just kept hitting a wall at 37 yards:) haha it was crazy! Doing this on our 15 yard carpet floor and this was for sure the best i've ever done on this, no falling and hit my PR for 3 sets in a row...so IMPROVEMENT!!!
Alternated this with 20' rope climbs which i did for 3 sets of 40' foot climbs
after this rested a few minutes then did 3 sets of 30 yard speed crawls with the Power Wheel + 52lb vest: 21 seconds for each set and these all tie my previous PR of 21 seconds which i had done on 1 set only. So 3 sets of tying records on HSW and PW52 crawls is a good day!!
rested some more then wanted to just do some simple high rep stuff to finish on a nice strong feel so i did 3 sets each of planche dips on parallel bars and body rows for sets of 25 each and this went great!!
MBG 3 plant based eating - another great strong day of eating!!
grapes, mango, goji, cacao, bananas, SOLife, almonds
kale, kamut, brown rice, beans, bell peppers, carrots
figs, almonds, cranberries, raisins, sunflower seeds
mixed greens, carrots, sesames seeds, tomato, then bowls of brown rice, spinach, garbanzo beans
spinach, corn, sunflower seeds
overall i'm real happy with todays results and where everything is going:)
Today was also really cool at the MBG Madison...we did the Wesley and it kicked everyones ass!!!:)
My NBA client Wesley Matthews made up this workout when he had to travel to train and asked me what i thought and i said man you're an evil dude:) that is gonna be hard as hell...but fun as hell too!! and it was! everyone loved it!!:)
Peace my friends!!

Day 60 of 90!! NEW PW PR!!

NEW PR: 70 yard Power Wheel crawl + 52lbs!!!!!!
hey everybody, man if you read yesterdays post i did alot and yes i felt it today:) haha i was a bit tired, a bit overall achey and not feeling too energetic to train, but i still did my best and ended up feeling pretty good at the end of the day:)
Question for each and all of you:
WHICH CHALLENGE WOULD MOST INTEREST YOU?
  • Power Wheel crawl 100 yards
  • Power Wheel heaviest as possible crawl 100 yards:) (this is the one i'm doing....gonna get 260lbs for 100 yards!!!)
  • 15/15 x 5 minutes of push ups for 100 reps, then same with JGXT assisted for 100 reps (this is very hard)
  • Going 100% plant based for 30 days
  • Doing the Eischens Warrior sequence for 30 days straight...(hard core AND feel amazing!!:)
NOW IF YOU READ MY BLOG i want to hear from you on my blog or on my FB page or on our MBG FB page!!! Okay my brothers and sistas!! I want to know:)

MBG 1 restoration - Eischens Yoga beginner sequence, hot/cold shower x 4
MBG 2 training - Power Wheel crawl, chins to chest, push ups
Power Wheel + 52lb vest: *70 yards New PR!!, 30 yards = 100 yards
rested a bit, then trained another hour of BJJ with my bud Thales....fast training it was great!
Strict chin ups to chest: 3 sets of 10
Strict push ups to unstable 2x4: 3 sets of 25
felt good afterwards, really happy i bumped it up to 70 yards today, it felt good too and considering it was friday, bjj fatiqued me a bit too....did pretty darn good:) haha
MBG 3 eating plant based:
  1. grapes, straws, blues, dates, bee pollen, goji, cacao, bananas, SOLife, sunflower seeds, almonds
  2. kale, carrots, beans, brown rice, corn, peas, walnuts
  3. bananas and dates rolled in coconut flakes (great treat)
  4. went out for mexican:) chips & salsa, burrito with spinach, brocolli, onions, bell peppers, black beans, avocado....man this was THE BOMB!!!! awesome vegan burrito!!!
Right now i'm feeling pretty good about both the power wheel the dunking (after yesterdays 10'5" jump off two feet and a good broad jump and todays new PR on the Power Wheel + 52 crawl). The handstand walk is coming along and the 2-3 weeks of not doing it too much a few weeks back from just feeling really poor has put me in a tough spot to progress. I'm thinking i'm above 50 yards right now...so doubling that in 40 days:) that will be tough...but you know what? i'm still going for it:)

time to chill:) resting and recovering this weekend, gonna do some Eischens Yoga for sure, but mostly reading alot and maybe watching a movie this weekend.
so peace my friends!:)
