MBG Moorpark, CA - Running, Jumping and Handstands seminar July 15th (tentative date)

MBG Madison - Intensive August 5th - 10th (the last one in april was off the hook and august is gonna be amazing too!! so i want to see you there!!:)
CanFit - Toronto Canaday August 11-14th showing some of our newest Lifeline USA training tools!!
it is funny we're so busy this summer as summers are usually a time you dont do many seminars.
it is very busy but we're digging it for sure:)
over the weekend as i mentioned it was hot and i went crazy being outside:)
actually played golf for the third time in the last 30 years:) hahaha
it was actually really great! actually got par on 2 holes:)
then played bball for almost 3 hours straight and it was a blast, talking tons of trash and having a great time balling with all my friends!
my workouts since have been a little light for sure since i lost a ton of water and for sure got dehydrated...so did some real nice work up workouts yesterday and today and felt great!!
monday workout did sets of 7 HSPU's and 7 L seat chin ups chest to bar and these two felt great!
then did some more with 36k's for back presses (alt.s) and renegade rows x 40k's for 3 sets of 10s each.
today still took it lighter so just did some foot up lunge work ups to sets of 5s with the 36s real strict.
then finished with my favorite power wheel rollouts to chest...man this is a dope exercise:) love it:)
still eating like a champ, today i blended a whole watermelon and it was great! super tasty after workout recovery drink!!
BIG NOTE: last week lifeline USA my dads business and the company he and i have developed almost 100% of the products for just launched my dads newest invention, the PUR (pull up revolution) and in order to give it some hard core facts they had an independent researcher do a study over 60 days. The RESULTS: all improved by 70%!!!! Some from 0 chins to multiple chins, some from 9 to barely touching their chin to 10 touching their chest!! This is really an amazing improvement!
The PUR PROGRAM: I got to write the program for them to follow so i had them do a GTG chin up program (GTG - greasing the groove). So they did 75% of their max for 2 sets daily using the PUR.
If they did 0 chins, then they tested with 3 bands of the PUR for max reps.
If they did 1+ chins, then they tested with 2 bands of the PUR for max reps.
Whatever they did with the PUR for their test then they did daily in the AM and PM.
E.G. if they hit 12 max reps with the PUR, then they would do 9 reps for each set, adding 1 rep to each set every two weeks. The results were beyond my expectations!
hope you all are doing great, the PUR will be on our site within days so check it out my friends!!

052010 Thursday train, eat, read, think:)
Today besides working alot this morning i had a pretty good workout with a new intern at my mbg.
Stephan and i ran 6 sets each of over speed work and 6 sets each of resisted speed work...a drill called "tote running" which i've really loved to do for years. use a C-band around one guys waist and yours, he runs infront of you, you jog behind making him run harder...then after about 30 yards you let the stretched cable slingshot you up to and maybe even past your partner and you both sort of race the last 20-30 yards. then switch and repeat for 6-8 sets each. this is one of my favorite drills to improve speed, perfect for athletes to do because it hits both elements you need to improve...a slight assisted run to increase RPM's and a slight resistance to improve power while sprinting.
my old friend steve williams told me this was the drill he use to do when he held the world record in the 100 meters...he ran 9.9 seven times!!!
it was a great workout, the weather was great today and stephan is a athlete so the run was great too:)
but we werent done yet! we went back in the MBG and made up a nice conditioning workout:
push the boxes on the carpet 60 yards in 30 seconds or less
rest 15 seconds
jump rope with 2 lb rope x 75 reps in 30 seconds or less
rest 15 seconds
fast hands with battling ropes for amap reps in 30 seconds
rest 15 seconds
repeat for 8 rounds!
very good sweat and got the HR up high for the whole thing too:)
3.5 * workout!
had my bananas and dates
had bananas and 6 cups of baby spinach after my workout
gonna have a huge salad with lots of good stuff on top tonight
feeling good, feeling strong!!
check out my boy steve williams (heres another article on him) though it's pretty cool seeing how the 100m has progress! Bolt is off the hook!!:)

Tuesday, 5.18.10 and back at it!!
Felt good to be back home again:) As much as i love traveling and teaching it can for sure make keeping tight with your workouts a challenge:)
Morning WHATTTT? no electricity this am!!! No smoothie!! AHHHGGG:) haha
wow i missed my smoothie this morning, oh well, still ate great, 5 oranges and 15 dates:) great:)
that really kept me going good til after my workout,
Workout: did a simple one i did last week after 20 hours of travel...a simple strength workout:
1) HSPU's x 10 sets of 6 = 60 total reps
2) Chin ups to chest to bar x 10 sets of 6 = 60 reps
3.7*'s!! for how i felt beforehand which was a bit tired this was again a great workout!
really felt strong towards the end of this workout and felt strong leaving the gym too...THAT is very important...to leave feeling strong and healthy and that i did for sure:)
POST WORKOUT:) made my favorite 11 banana + 12 dates + carob mock ice cream poured on bananas:) a 1,400 cal smoothie which felt great!! my body is getting more and more use to this size of meals which is cool...dang this is so good its crazy:)
Dinner was great too, tons of veggies, our local veggie patties (100% natural organic veggies), some black beans, broccoli, corn over some brown rice and spinach...this was really good...then finished with some sweet potatoes:)
TODAYS MOMENTS OF WHOA:)
during my workout i was resting and saw a snapple low cal tea bottle saying nothing but good things from the earth on the label. this got me to thinking...it's low cal? it's got to have a sweetener and most likely it's a cheap one...so i looked and sure enough Snapple's tea had aspartame in it which is one of the most toxic substances used in drinks out today!! It's literally poisonous! This has made 3 Whoa moments for me in the last week...first was is still is the Pink buckets by KFC...this is so pitiful it is crazy to even talk about this...the company that produces a product that literally causes cancer, saying they want to help cancer research??? SERIOUSLY???
The second was the "Biggest Loser" selling a high protein ice cream that helps you lose weight. Milk and Splenda (a form of aspartame...poison...again)....REALLY??
Now the Snapple people saying "everything good from the earth" wow, poisonous substances are good for you?? well i guess if the making a buck is what is good for you:) then YES i guess they are:)
But here is 3 cases consumers are sold a bill of goods: KFC, Biggest Loser and now Snapple are all about making money first and foremost and our health is least important! Take a look past the ads, take a look at what is the real agenda...money.
Lets question them folks, lets find the truth! When it comes to foods, Micheal Pollen said it best, if you see a food advertised, you probably shouldnt eat it cause it is cheap and processed foods that are full of bad things for you...in this case the 3 above are perfect examples of just this!
Stay strong my friends, spread the good vibes!!

today was awesome:) slept bit over 9 hours again!! man that feels great.
meal 1: 1lb of strawberries + 5 navel oranges for smoothie
snack: 1/2 cabbage + 3 bananas smoothie drink
workout:
10 min JR,
then 2/1/0 x 6 jumps + 120/60/0 Power Jumper to rim jumps, improved up to 10'5.5"
then C-band R7/R5/0 x 6 jumps to rim jumps - improved final jump up to 10'6.5"
then wanted to do some simple moderately heavy work so did some
28k's dead cleans for 10 sets of 10 reps...really strict, they felt great.
Finished in 17:00 flat:) good workout!
then did 5 sets of 10 power wheel rollouts off a 12" box...like this one alot!
then did 5 sets of 10 16k's kb levers
all around a really great workout:) 3.6*'s
after workout smoothie: 10 bananas + 12 dates + pure carob powder
last night i road out to the west side of madison to our borders book store and got a pretty
good book, the lost city of z...i read this alot this afternoon, love reading to relax and sit
with my cats, they love it too i think as they lay next to me and just chill:)
after reading for a few hours i met my folks at a costa rican restaurant here in downtown madison.
madison for its size has amazing amounts of variety of foods...it's really pretty cool:)
this one is owned my my friend tony and he can throw down...made us 3 vegan specials. YES,
my folks are now almost 100% plant based and they are feeling great! For years they resisted
my help but recently they've begun to implement various parts of eating plant based and they
really are feeling amazing:) Seeing them eat this way and begin to learn how to eat healthier
makes me so happy:) You can see in their skin and eyes the vibrant health they both have...they look
truly amazing:) So tony hooked us UP!!! If your ever in Madison you got to stop by his joint! he makes his own sauces and they are simply the best around and he did not dissapoint tonight.
Dinner: tons of great veggies, brocolli, asparagus, tomatoes, small salad, some yellow rice and tofu covered in his special green sauce...my mom even said it is so good you want to keep eating even when you're full:)
After dinner went to see the new robin hood movie with my friends from BJJ...it was really good! enjoyed it alot...i give it a 3 stars:) out of 4.
Going to Detroit tomorrow so some more travel, eating and workouts:) This will be fun, since we're driving i'm bringing a case of bananas!!!:)

Good Friday food and training:)
Wow it felt good to be back home and training, teaching, sleeping:) and eating good food:)
Slept super hard last night, the 20 hours of traveling over the last two day was crazy:)
Either way it felt great to sleep about 9 hours:) then have my tea and then my favorite
meal 1: 10 banana and 10 dates smoothie:)
snack: 4 oranges
lunch: big salad, beets, corn, some tofu and more veggies
then had a great simple training session, thought about doing todays "Gauntlet" but the travel just
jacked me up too much to do a hard core workout, so i did a simple strength workout that felt awesome.
workout:
10 sets of 5 of HSPU's
10 sets of 5 of strict bar to chest chin ups
did alternating sets til i was done...felt really good! just what i wanted from todays workout.
after workout smoothie: 10 bananas, carob, 12 dates = great!!
then went for a bike ride:) had some energy i guess and i went to get some groceries...ended up riding for about 90 minutes.
ended by having some popcorn and chillin at home...just in case you like to make popcorn yourselves i highly recommend making it this way...use flax oil and sea salt:) the flax tastes like butter with a slightly woody taste!!
good day:)

Flying back home today:) Day two no training, but good eatin' haha
What day is it? Crazy how you can get turned around when you travel alot:)
Today was teaching two groups of about 20 people each the ways of the MBG3:)
it was fun and they dug it and we dug teaching it:) haha
It's so cool to do something you love and be lucky enough to do it for a living:)
As soon as we get back later tonight we'll be leaving again for Detroit on Saturday to go visit one of
of MBG Licensees....MBG Detroit!!
This is an added perk we are doing with all our MBG Licensees, we are going and visiting each one and helping them out with exercise technique, teaching the MBG workouts in their classes, helping with everything from program design for privates to refining Eischens Yoga technique to eating Plant Based.... basically MBG3:)
So after they take our intensive, they can get licensed and then we work to keep the MBG education on changing the fitness world going strong and so far everybody loves it:)
It's alot of traveling and hard work but we feel in the long run we'll have extremely high level MBG licensees all across the country and overseas:) and in order to do what we want...a truly healthy fitness world:) this is just something we want to do:)
Eating: Very unusual day for me eating...NO BANANA SMOOTHIE!!! AAAAGGGHHH:) haha
if you can believe it today we ate at cracker barrel and pf changs!!
Meal 1: oatmeal, pecans, brown sugar, raisins, then a big bran muffin and a banana...had to have it:) reverting back to my old ways of oatmeal for breakfast but it's cool, it's tasty and i feel alright:)
Meal 2: spinach, brocolli, brown rice, tofu and some green sobe noodles...man o man those sobe noodles are super good!! So again, not my fruit smoothie, but again dont feel too bad...but do notice a bit of a full belly feeling...i know what this is from...so far today it's alot of fat from oils in the diet, so far already more than the whole days fat i usually consume...that is cool, my big thing is to not freak out, enjoy my food and friends and try to maintain a minimum of 80/10/10 most of the time over the week. This way i dont stress and when i travel alot and dont eat or train in my usual manner it can be a bit stressful, so i dont like to worry over it too much.
Meal 3: this will be back home and hopefully it will be home in time to watch lebron and company beat the celtics:) Got a fresh case of bananas waiting for me at home just boxed up and browning so when i return they'll be nice and ripe...just in case you did not know the rule of thumb for eating a banana is make sure it's brown big time...not black, but lots of brown spots on it...then you know it's ripe and ready nutrient wise to eat. eating a banana before it's brown means it has not reached it potential...so wait and enjoy it even more. Same is true but even more for plantain...black is the ripe color you want here...on the morning trip here i ate some that were black but not completely and they definitely tasted more starchy, so wait til all black on the plantains:)
got to get on the plane now so talk soon my friends!!:)
HAY HAY HAY - MONKEY BAR GYM SAVES THE DAY!!:)
We arrive in chicago from knoxville at 6:04 our connecting flight leaves chicago at 6:10!
Exact opposite end of o'hare field...about 3/4 of a mile i guess...jess and i looked at each other
and took off at a full run with about 25lb packs on...it was awesome, dodging crowds the whole way, constant 7 min mile pace:) it was crazy...we made it right as they were about to close the doors!!
It was really awesome:) whew we were both breathing super hard but there was no way we would of made it unless we were in MBG shape...no way, running hard, constantly dodging folks, cutting thru traffic, carrying heavy packs:) It was a total surprise hard run...GREAT!!:)
Meal 3 continued: made some brocolli, beans, corn and two all natural veggie patties, put a little tomatos on it and it was a great meal to end the day:)
ended up eating about 77/11/12 today and really look forward to working out hard tomorrow!!!:)
Yeah, the Cavs lost, Celtics looked great, Cavs looked :( not so great! Now begins the wait to see what Lebron will do:) Should be fun:)
Whew, what a day:)
Talk with y'all tomorrow!!

Whew, long day, traveling if you can believe it by air and although it was a fun trip:) it took 10 hours to get here:) Oh well, had great company (jessica:) and we got alot of work done and we always have fun traveling. One thing i thought about on the way here was this guy who we met in LA, this guy was super yoked...Yoke means built like bo jackson for those who dont know:) anyways we were training one sunny day at the santa monica rings area on the beach and we see this guy climb up and down the 20 foot rope...he didnt just climb it either, he did super long reach and grabs and had his legs in the L position too. So he does 1 time to the top & down, then chills, then repeats it about 3 minutes later. So i dont think too much, i just keep doing my pole climbs and handstands and stuff, then about 15 and 30 minutes later i look over and he's still doing the sets of 1...now i'm thinking DANG, how many sets is he doing?:) So i go ask him...he did 25 sets! So made me think a bit on it, is this all he did? Can you get yoked doing this? when i was in college i saw a similar thing happen with another freakishly strong dude...just did 1 exercise a day...1 super heavy set and that was it....i mean he was a freak in strength! Over my 30+ years as a strength coach i've seen quite alot of things that work and dont work, but i always say, the proof is in the pudding...two guys, two yoked people at that, simple workouts....mmmm. For sure it makes you think:) I love our workouts this month, after each one i have felt great! done in 20 minutes or less, feel strong, healthy, amazing! that is the goal right:) But when i think of examples like this it sure makes me want to give it a go huh:)
So maybe i will in June:) we will see....mmmm....it might look like this:
Jon's One & Done workouts
Today i just ate good clean food...about 3,600 cals...about 80/10/10 again and feel pretty darn good... But got to go to sleep now...big day of teaching / lecturing all day tomorrow then flying back home again:) BUT I LOVE IT:) HAHAHAHA
tell me who wants to join me okay!!

Tuesday, 5.11.10
Today it is still cold and rainy here in madison...slept in today:) haha and it was awesome:)
Just chillin'!
Started my day with my usual Tea, then banana/date smoothie poured all over a bunch more sliced bananas...but today i replaced them with red bananas and plantain and it was awesome!!
I know i've said it before but DANG!!! This is so good, cant believe it's not ice cream. Then a funny thing happened, i go to a local cafe to work and ge this e-mail from kim lyons of the biggest loser, she is promoting this high protein ice cream, they show all these pics of people losing fat, getting lean, saying it's so tasty and so good for you too. So i investigate, it's ingredients are whey protein, then a bunch of ingredients i could not pronounce and then the sucralose...basically a poison. It is crazy the crap people
sell as healthy, this is exactly why i opened my MBG, this is exactly why i got sick of the bull that the fitness world is pushing on people...crap!! They are trying to make money off everyone with a product that they sell as super tasty and super healthy...but it's not! look up sucralose and you'll find it contains poisons!!!! Very toxic substance, yet to make money on their product they put it in there because it makes things taste good...when if they only went back to the basics...to nature and made a similar smoothie to what i make every morning they would get way way more benefit and true health and long term happiness. Well since i'm on a rant i might as well yell about another one that makes me yell...Did you see the new ad for KFC? They are all about making pink buckets to help with cancer research!! Can you believe that!! A company that is a huge reason for cancer is trying to make money off saying they are trying to help cancer...HEY I GOT AN IDEA, WANT TO HELP FIGHT CANCER, CLOSE YOUR DOORS AND YOU'D HELP PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD REDUCE THEIR RISK OF GETTING CANCER! GET THOSE KFC EATERS TO SEE THE LIGHT OF GOING PLANT BASED!!! DANG!!!!
Okay, haha, i'm cool now:) haha
Workout: did some great bodyweight training today, gonna be traveling alot over the next 2 days so wanted to do some more strength work today on legs and then some balance stuff -
1) stair pistols and 3 step step ups...all the way down the 17 steps alternating pistols was great! Added a 16lb weight vest and it worked great!
2) 1 leg Jungle Gym curls for 8s
alternated the two and did 4 sets of each
then did flagpole holds for 15 seconds each side >>
power wheel full roll outs + 16lb vest x 16 reps >>
back dome holds x 45 seconds and then 60 seconds
alternated these 3 for two times thru
then did planche high/low holds for 20 seconds each one...did this from parallel boxes, both high holds and low (under parallel to floor) really worked me hard.
alternated the planches with levers both high and low...held each for 20 counts again, did the high holds on a bar with my body inverted and straight, then went to boxes and did either a low hold lever (under parallel) or a L seat hold for 20 counts again
felt really great after the workout 3.6*'s:)
for lunch i had baby spinach, blueberries, mangos, dates and some hemp seeds...pretty good but dang i dont like running out of my bananas!!!:) haha
for dinner had some mexican for the first time in about 3-4 months! it was cool and felt alright with it:) rice, beans, fajita guts = good tasty food:) haha got to throw in some tortillas and guac too:)
then added 2 sweet potatoes and it was a good dinner!
feeling good man, feeling good:)

Monday, whew mentally tough day:)
Today was one of those days that is just challenging:) So instead of crushing myself i just chilled and when it came time to train i did a simple workout and it felt great!
Meals 1: 10 bananas + 12 dates smoothie
snack: 4 navel oranges
Meal 2: 8 bananas + 12 dates smoothie again:) yeah i know, well its super good!!:)
Meal 3: big salad, with sprouts, dulse flakes, tomatos...then had beans and greens after that:) good! Then had 2 sweet potatoes for dessert!!
Workout:
2/1/0 x 8 Two foot jumps to rim using R6 Power Jumper...this went really good since i hadnt been doing alot of jump training lately. With 2 bands hit about 9'7" for all 8, for 1 band hit 10'1" for 6, for 0 bands got up to about 10'4" which is good for today:)
R7/R5/0 x 8 One foot jumps to rim using C-bands...this went great too. With R7 hit about 9'8" for 8 jumps, with R5 hit 10' on about half of the 8 jumps, with 0 hit 10'6" as my best jump off one foot.
Very happy about this.
After that did very lightly assisted HSPUs alternated & chin ups to chest for 12, 11 & 16, 15.
Then moved on to 80lb PPU3 & box body rows for 12, 10 & 10, 10
Then moved on to 36k's back presses and bent over rows for 2 sets of 12s for each.
Nice easy workout, felt good when i finished.
I like to point out the importance of listening to your body, this is something i use to never do and i often found myself feeling worse after those workouts than better....LISTEN...if your body, not your mind now is just not feeling it, then it's cool to occasionally do a light workout:) heck it's good to do 1 time a week anyways...let the body recover a bit, that is when we get strong anyways:)
That is it for today folks, hope you all had a good day:)

Starting my MBG blog: training, restoration, PB nutrition
Started my morning off as usual with my tea...bengal spice:) i make a gallon at a time and love to have a big cup to get my water in...then clean up after my cats and listen to some good audiobooks. the one i'm diggin' right now is ester and jerry hicks books...very very cool stuff on the Laws of Attraction and the power of emotions.

Just so you all know i keep track of my cals to make sure i'm eating enough, this is important as alot of people who eat only fruits, veggies and some raw nuts and seeds and are athletes tend to under eat sometimes, so using the App "Lose It" helps me keep track. Also like to do this to show people you can eat 100% plant based, have tremendous energy, health, strength & conditioning!!
